We’ve nailed down the details….

And we are going to be “Grateful to Gather”!!

Documents have been emailed out and are also posted on the website at http://www.homerunministries.com in the Documents Tab.

Here are the details:

Super Friday Covid-19 Protocols (as of August 3, 2020)

Super Friday will follow State and Local guidelines and mandates, as required by law and by the facility where we meet. These mandates are subject to change and we will adjust our protocols accordingly. Families will be notified of any changes moving forward.

  1. We are planning to meet in person, beginning August 28, 2020. If we have to cancel due to Covid 19, either for a week or two or for a longer time period, refunds will be provided based on the document Fall 2020 Super Friday Covid Refund Policy. We are not planning to implement online learning this semester for Super Friday.
  2. All facilities and surfaces will be cleaned and sanitized between each Super Friday by cleaning staff of Woodridge Baptist Church.
  3. Frequent hand-washing and sanitizing will be encouraged.
  4. Sharing of supplies or other items will be minimized and avoided when possible.
  5. It is imperative that parents monitor their students’ health closely throughout the week before attending Super Friday. If your child has a fever, cough, difficulty breathing or other symptoms of illness, please keep them at home. If your child is in attendance at Super Friday and is noticeably not feeling well, we will notify you to pick them up. If your child is ill (non-Covid-19), we ask they not attend Super Friday until they are symptom free for at least 24 hours.
  6. If a child or staff member is found to be Covid-19 positive, contact tracing within the program will occur to allow families to self-screen and determine if quarantine is warranted. Woodridge Baptist staff will be notified of any positive case in our population. Classrooms and supplies will be sanitized.

Based on CDC guidelines, the individual will not be allowed to return to campus until:

  • 14 days have passed from first symptoms AND
  • 72 hours have passed with no fever (and no fever reducers) AND
  • Respiratory symptoms have improved
  • If a child or staff member has been in direct, close contact (ie. family member, member of household or other non-distancing contact) with someone who is Covid-19 positive, that child or staff member will not return to campus until 14 days from last contact.
  • We plan to conduct a brief health check of each person as they enter the building. This will include a no-contact temperature check (over 100.4 degrees defined as fever) and three questions, which can be answered by the parent or caregiver for children.

1. Have you been fever-free without the use of fever reducing medications for the last 72 hours?

2. Have you had any unusual respiratory distress including cough, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, loss of taste or smell, or chills in the past 72 hours?

3. Have you been in close direct contact with anyone with a suspected or confirmed case of COVID-19 in the past 14 days?

A YES answer to any of these questions will result in that family not being admitted to Super Friday on that date. Return to campus will be determined based on diagnosis.

  • We will require that students/teachers/administrators/parents wear a mask when moving from place to place in the building and in any situation where social distance is not possible. It will be suggested that all persons keep a mask handy in the event they need to approach someone; however, while seated in most classes we should be able to separate students by the suggested space for social distancing so as to allow masks to be stored while sitting.  In some classes where students must work in close proximity to another student or staff member, masks may need to stay on throughout the class.  Of course, anyone who feels more comfortable wearing a mask or face covering at any time will be encouraged to do so.  In addition, children under the age of 10 are not required to wear face coverings.
  • We will not be having our large group gatherings in the gym either before classes or for snack time until further notice. Students will proceed directly to 1st period in the morning. Snacks will be eaten in 2nd period.
  • We will also be implementing new drop off and pick up procedures to minimize crowds and traffic within the building and make the process safer and more convenient. More information will be shared closer to our start date of August 28.

Our motto this fall will be “Grateful to Gather”! We will do our very best to provide a safe and fun environment for our students and staff. We will show respect to each other in the way that we speak and behave, even if we believe differently about Covid-19 and the risk it presents.

I understand that you will need to assess these protocols and determine what is best for your family. Any withdrawals on or before August 14 will result in a full refund of tuition and class fees paid. Other refunds will not be issued other than the situations outlined in the document Fall 2020 Super Friday Covid Refund Policy. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Dawn Pruyn, dawnpruyn@homerunministries.com.

Fall 2020 Registration Info

Super Friday Families,

Despite the current situation in our community and the world, we are doing our very best to continue our ministry of coming alongside homeschooling families with a fun and engaging extra-curricular program. You will receive an email with a document explaining our Tuition and Fees and another explaining our plans regarding possible situations due to the pandemic. Please read these documents carefully so that you can make informed decisions for your family.

As we prepare to register for fall semester, I want to be very up-front and clear about changes to our fee structures and deadlines and the reasons for those changes.

Early in spring 2020, before the onset of Covid-19, we had plans in place to increase our registration fees for Super Friday Fall 2020. Our registration fees have been unchanged for more than 5 years. These fees were much lower than the fees for other similar programs, and were no longer adequate to meet our program costs.  After much deliberation and number crunching, we have determined that we will follow through with our plan to increase registration fees for this upcoming semester. However, we wanted to give a discount to the families impacted by the loss of face to face classes during spring. For that reason, we will be allowing families who attended in spring 2020 to EARLY register for fall at the previous registration price. Please be aware that in order to receive this discount, you must register BEFORE we open to new families on June 5. Anyone registering on or after June 5 will be charged the new registration fee.

Secondly, we are implementing a $5 per student increase in tuition. This was NOT a planned increase, but is an unavoidable response to a recent increase in the rent that we are being charged for the facility. Woodridge Baptist Church is faced with increased costs due to the need for extra cleaning and disinfecting the church building each week, and therefore they are charging more for rent to cover these expenses.

Please know that we have not implemented these increases lightly or without much deliberation and prayer. We are very aware of the economic impact that almost all of our families are feeling and will continue to feel as the shutdown stretches on. We at Super Friday would NOT be increasing charges even a penny if we felt that we could do so and still continue to function as a ministry.

Because of the loss of in person class time during the spring, we are also offering the following discounts:

For every child who attended the Early Childhood program in Spring 2020, we will apply a $25 credit to that child’s tuition for Fall 2020. We know that EC students pay higher tuition and were impacted more by the transition to online.

For children enrolled in Beginning Fencing, Sportball, LEGO Robotics, Crazy for Cookies, or Nailed It! in Spring 2020, your child may reenroll in that same class in Fall 2020 for a reduced price, as listed below:

Beginning Fencing $40 instead of $65

Sportball $40 instead of $65

LEGO Robotics $30 instead of $50

Crazy for Cookies $15 instead of $25

Nailed it! $5 instead of $10

Thanks to the Lap-a-Thon and other fundraising efforts, we do have some scholarship funds available for those in need. If you would like to apply for a scholarship, you can find the application in the Documents tab on the website www.homerunministries.com. Applications should be submitted to Anne Trapani at annetrapani@homerunministries.com by June 30, 2020.

Schedule Preview of available classes will be up on the website beginning Wednesday, May 27. When you log into at www.homerunministries.com, click the green Schedule Preview button to see all available options. You will have a few days to look those over and discuss with your children before the stress of registration morning!

If you have any questions, please email Dawn Pruyn at dawnpruyn@homerunministries.com.

Registration will happen in just a few days!

We were scheduled to open registration beginning this Friday, May 22, but we are going to hold off for a few extra days. We at Super Friday and Home Run Ministries are working hard to ensure that we have a solid plan in place to cover possible issues and scenarios that may arise due to Covid-19 and the restrictions surrounding it.

New registration dates are as follows:

Staff—Friday, May 29

Spring 2020 families— Monday, June 1

Open— Friday, June 5

Thank you for your patience!

Want to win a gift card??

With so many obstacles we are facing, we hope this will brighten your day!  On Friday, May 8, 2020, we will have a drawing for a $50 Amazon gift card.  To enter the drawing, all you have to do is share HRM with others.  Here are the steps:

1.  Send your friends who are not currently involved in HRM to our website:  HomeRunMinistries.com.

2.  Once on our website, they will need to click on the blue HRM Giveaway button and fill out the 3-question form.

The person you referred to our website, as well as you (because they will be asked who referred them to us), will be entered into the drawing.  The more people you refer to us, the higher your chance is of winning!

There are many families out there who have gotten a taste of homeschooling and feel that it might be for them but are not sure if they could do it on their own.  This is where HRM can help!

There are other families who have been homeschooling but are looking for other options.  We are here for them as well.

Fabi Richards

Thanks for being a part of Spring 2020!

Today is the last day of Super Friday Online. Thank you to all of our teachers, aides, students and families for sticking with us through this historic semester. We are working hard and making exciting plans for Fall 2020. Please continue to partner with us in prayer for guidance and wisdom, for our ministry, our community and our nation. We know that God is in control and that He will continue to work in our midst no matter what.

Watch for news in May regarding registration dates and details! Have an awesome summer!

Finishing Strong

There are only two weeks left in our spring 2020 semester, and my heart is longing for our usual end of the year activities and fellowship. We would never have imagined when we began classes in January, that this is how we would be ending in April– everyone isolated in their homes, rationing food and toilet paper, doing our best to stay connected AND safe and healthy! What an unbelievable turn of events!

I have been encouraged and blessed by many of your messages and posts, showing how much your children have enjoyed the Super Friday Online content. But, you know, I’ve also talked to parents who haven’t really even looked at the emails from Super Friday teachers..too busy doing other things inside their homes or out in their yards, or just spending time ‘chilling’ and enjoying NOT doing things. And that is A-OKAY! Please know that we at Home Run Ministries and Super Friday know that THIS is not what any of us signed up for! We also are aware that this pandemic has brought financial difficulties upon so many in our communities, including job loss, pay cuts, and unforeseen destruction of our carefully made budgets. We are working carefully and prayerfully to determine what kind of help we can give when registration opens for Fall 2020, including possible discounts or credits for those who were a part of Spring 2020. We may have to make adjustments to our program to accommodate the changes in all of our lives, but we don’t have enough clear information yet. We are still hoping to open registration in late May, and will have more details on what registration and tuition will look like as that time approaches.

In the meantime, please continue to PRAY for God’s grace and His will in all of these circumstances and for peace and strength for all of us as we watch the future unfold.

Now, let me share some JOY! Check out some of the awesome pictures of our students, doing what they do best and being SUPER!

Super Friday Online Update

What a strange and historic semester this has turned out to be! While I know that we are all missing each other and our Fridays together, I have been blown away by the great work that our teachers have continued to do each week, and I have been encouraged by the wonderful feedback (and sweet pictures) from our families as the children enjoy the fruits of our labor. If you haven’t had a chance to check out the Super Friday Show and Tell Facebook group, please do! It will bless your socks off!

Since this week, Friday, April 10, was a planned holiday for the Easter weekend, teachers will not be sending content this week. We will have two remaining weeks of Super Friday Online, April 17 and April 24.

I so wish we could all be together in person to have our end of the year activities, parties and performances. I know that God is watching over us all in these unusual times, and I pray for your safety and health until we are back together again!
